Have you ever met a perfect Christian? Me either. Does the Bible say that we must be perfect to be a Christian? No. That's because a perfect Christian does not exist! The only perfect man that walked the Earth was Jesus Christ. Sometimes going to church can be an intimidating experience because we think that people who go to church are somehow better than those that don't. That's not true! The definition of a Christian was beautifully explained in Carol Wimmer's poem. Check it out below:

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not shouting "I'm clean livin'."
I'm whispering "I was lost,
Now I'm found and forgiven."

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble
and need Christ to be my guide.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak
And need His strength to carry on.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed
And need God to clean my mess.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible
But, God believes I am worth it.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I still feel the sting of pain.
I have my share of heartaches
So I call upon His name.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner
Who received God's good grace, somehow!

Even though we are not perfect, God loves us anyway! Never feel that you're not good enough to be a Christian. God is forgiving and loving and waiting for you!

"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." ~Romans 3:23

Several days after celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday, I continue to think about the price He paid for us. When we wonder how much Jesus loves us, we should think about Him hanging on the cross with His arms stretched out wide, showing us that He loves us "this much" as my sweet little niece would say. Sadly enough, as we go through the day to day hustle and bustle of life, we forget how much He sacrificed.
As I have mentioned on this blog before, our little church is making some changes. Change is not only hard, but it's exhausting. In fact, I mentioned to a friend how nice it would be to just go back to "normal"; you know, just sitting on the pew on Sundays, singing inspiring songs, listening to an inspiring message, and leaving church feeling...well, inspired.
However, when those thoughts come trickling in, the image of Jesus hanging on the cross flashes in my mind. He didn't hang on the cross so I could simply sit in the pew on Sundays. He sacrificed so that I may have eternal life and help others learn about Christ so they can have eternal life, as well.
Church is work...God's work. How can I keep my gifts hidden from everyone just so I won't have to work hard? How can I waste what he sacrificed so much for? We have to get up, get moving, and get changing! He made the greatest sacrifice; now, what can we do for Him?

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." ~John 3:16

God is doing some amazing things at Woodhaven Church of God, and I'm excited! Often in life, when we begin to branch out and do something different, negative thoughts and fears invade our minds. God provides clarity! Through prayer and obedience, God shows us His plan.
We have been making some changes at our church, and while it's not easy to be "under construction", God is moving in ways that we couldn't imagine. We humbly continue to pray that He will continue to bless our little church and those who enter our doors.

"For I am the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you." ~Isaiah 41:13
